Yelland & Papps is a progressive Barossa producer redefining what the New World can look like. While firmly rooted in the Barossa Valley, the winery’s philosophy draws strong inspiration from Old World traditions — favouring balance, site expression and restraint over sheer power.
With a commitment to earlier picking and a thoughtful, gentle hand in the winery, Yelland & Papps crafts wines that prioritise texture, clarity and minerality. Oak is used with sensitivity, allowing vineyard character to shine through. The result is a portfolio of vibrant, expressive wines that feel both modern and deeply connected to place.
The range champions varieties and styles that speak of elegance and structure: medium-bodied Grenache with savoury nuance, refined Syrah that emphasises spice and finesse, and beautifully textured whites such as Roussanne. As a Barossa Valley producer, the winery also presents its own interpretation of Barossa Shiraz — structured, savoury and balanced, expressing depth without excess. Each wine reflects a deliberate pursuit of authenticity and terroir-driven character.
Yelland & Papps demonstrates that Barossa wines can be powerful yet poised, expressive yet restrained — a harmonious meeting of New World energy and Old World soul.

The Single Vineyard Greenock Shiraz marks twenty consecutive vintages from this site — a quiet testament to the consistency of vineyard, grower and style. While each season leaves its imprint, the voice of the vineyard remains unmistakably constant.
Naturally fermented and raised for twenty months in French oak puncheons, the wine is always guided toward restraint — power held in balance, with poise, clarity and elegance. It is released alongside the 2025 Single Vineyard wines, as this site calls for extended time in oak.
The 2025 Roussanne shows fine structure, texture and finesse. The 2025 Old Vine Grenache is slightly broader than 2024, with chalky tannins, while the 2025 Stone Well leans toward a Syrah expression, shaped through whole-cluster fermentation and careful blending of parcels.
These releases also continue our considered sustainability pathway, following our move to Qork Xpur closures and marking our first use of the POLYNATURE capsule — vegetal in origin, food-grade, recyclable and biocompatible.

Vintage Report 2024
The overall average rainfall in the Barossa Valley was down significantly. Temperatures in September were above average, and vines flourished with the warmer weather. October and November were normal, with some instances of winds and heat in November. January saw normal average temperatures, and February was only slightly above average.

Vintage Report 2025
Vintage 2025 commenced under very dry conditions, resulting in two clearly defined expressions across vineyard sites.
Early-picked parcels were sourced from vineyards with limited canopy development. Reduced shading and lower crop loads led to a rapid accumulation of sugars, requiring close monitoring and timely harvest decisions to preserve balance and avoid excessive ripeness. This reflects both the compressed nature of the harvest window and the accelerated ripening observed in early sites.
Vintage: 2025 Growing season Autumn/Winter/Spring/Summer 2024/2025
Rainfall: Below average for all months
Weather: 71% average warmer days, September frost
Harvest: 16th February to 13th March. By 23 February, approximately 50% of the intake was in.
Yields: normal exception frost affected vineyards
White varietals in 2025, particularly Roussanne, showed exceptional promise. Fruit quality is high, with excellent health, natural acidity retention, and strong flavour development. These results reflect the importance of well-maintained canopies, allowing for slower, more even ripening despite dry conditions and enabling harvest at optimal physiological maturity. Two varietals of particular note in 2025 are Roussanne and Grenache, both displaying clarity, balance and strong site expression at harvest.

Single Vineyard Greenock Shiraz
Greenock | Barossa Valley Planted in 1988 and farmed by David Materne, this Greenock site lies on loam over clay with ironstone through the profile. The vineyard gives fruit of quiet depth and structure, with the natural intensity of Greenock shaped by balance, fine tannin, and a clear sense of place.

Single Vineyard Roussanne
Greenock | Barossa Valley Planted in 2001 and now tendered by David Materne, this western Barossa site sits on red clay and ironstone soils that bring both structure and depth to the wines. Positioned at elevation with excellent sun exposure and low yields, the vineyard consistently produces fruit of intensity and natural balance—showcasing the bold, brooding character that Greenock is known for, with a core of elegance that reflects careful, thoughtful farming. Sourced from vineyards rooted in loam over clay soils, this site provides natural vigour and depth—yielding fruit with plush texture, fine tannins, and a grounded sense of place.

Single Vineyard Old Vine Grenache
Vine Vale | Barossa Valley Two kilometres east of the winery, this dry-grown Grenache vineyard in Vine Vale was planted in 1956 and is tended by Kevin Schild. Sandy loam over clay, with an east–west aspect, allows for even ripening under warm days and cool nights. Naturally low yielding, the site gives a Grenache of quiet concentration, fine structure, and a clear expression of place.

Stone Well | Barossa Valley Growers the Sonntag Estate Family Vineyards in the heart of Stone Well Barossa Valley, stunning slopes set amid the gums-covered hilltop of the Heavy loam over red clay and quartz scattered throughout the vineyard.
