Juicy, vibrant and unapologetically drinkable, this nails the “soif” brief through you’d be ok by saying it’s also o the fuller side for reds of chuggability. Bursting with red cherry and black plummy fruits, a slip of nutmeg spice and an overall slinky, soft textural appeal. Gluggable stuff. Can take a chill if you want. Party on. Have fun.

Vine Vale and Stone Well. Seven months in old oak. Plums and blueberries, cherry liqueur chocolates. Dried flowers and herbs, bran flakes and fennel seed. It’s front-loaded with fragrant fruit but then really neatly tapered and lithe through the palate. Packs plenty in without the bulk.

A bright, vibrant shiraz from the Schild vineyard in Vine Vale that shows pure dark plum compote, blueberry and boysenberry fruits cut with Medina spice, pressed and fresh wildflowers, crushed herbs, dried meats and earth. Medium bodied, with sprightly dark fruits, fine, powdery tannin and a bright seam of acidity. This is a wine built around ease of drinking, and it comes up trumps.
