Wine The Power of Place. For many winemakers, the pursuit of a single site has always held the deepest meaning—a chance to capture a vineyard’s true character, year in and year out. It’s something we both yearn for and deeply respect. While blending is a vital part of the winemaking craft, the purest expression of terroir comes when the site is allowed to speak without interruption. When farming, fruit, and minimal intervention align, the result is something unmistakable: a wine that reflects not just the season but the soul of the place it comes from.

70 year old Vine Vale Grenache vines do some wonderful talking in this excellent example that delivers tension, focus and freshness. Equal parts red berry fruits and dried herbal savoury notes, think perfectly ripe strawberries and raspberry, with subtle hints of thyme, lavender, and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied, with excellent balance and freshness, precision and drive. Strawberries and raspberries with a dusting of baking spice and savoury nuance, perhaps a little amaro, fine silty tannins, crisp acidity. There’s a lovely length on the finish here. So very very moreish. Excellent drinking
95/100 points The Cellar Post Edward Ag
Bright purple. Full-bodied and high in spice, made in a soft, lightly
oaked, fleshy tannin style that is immediately appealing. Reveals good
depth and concentration of red and dark fruits on the palate with five
spice, pepperberry, anise, earth and light florals and confection. Finishes
on a lasting pepperiness. Now–2033

VINTAGE JOURNAL − REGIONAL FOCUS − BAROSSA 2026
One of those wines I’d rather drink than review, what a sheer delight this Yelland & Papps Single Vineyard Grenache is!
From a low-yielding site in the Barossa sub-region of Vine Vale, the vines were planted in 1956. Only 6% whole bunches were used this time, with 18% new French oak for 10 months.
Quite the opening awaits with scents of lavender, violets and grape bubblegum. Alive and vibrant through the palate, raspberry rope, squishy blueberries and ripe raspberries build an attractive flavour profile with a severe magnetism that is hard to resist. Devilishly medium-bodied, flecks of orange peel make themselves known, adding further appeal. Dangerously silky, the tannins are fine with a slight silty presence. An easy recommendation. Excellent stuff!
Touch and go for 95 points really.
