An autumnal Rosé from Yelland & Papps, this is savoury, drying and textured. It’s a wine that hits the spot for that charcuterie board while the sun slowly falls from the sky. Winning!
The Cinsault and Mourvedre are sourced from a single vineyard in Stone Well and made in the provincial style. The Mourvedre portion saw several hours skin contact delivering texture and complexity with the Cinsault component bringing the freshness and lift.
An expressive opening, think tangelo, marigold flowers, freeze-dried raspberries, and the white bit of the strawberry. The longer it sits, fennel, dried herbs and a fine trail of minerality cruise about. Fabulously weighted, it is a considered wine that is equally thought-provoking and wonderfully lip-smacking. It is very well done.
Drink now.

This is a dry as chips modern style Rosé, but one which retains freshness and vibrancy throughout. There’s been almost no skin contact here, so the wine has a slightly copper tone, onion skin colour. The ferment just happened naturally, and then it spent time on lees until all was brought together. The wine has a savoury appeal, but still retains some bright primary fruit characters of raspberry and cherry. The mouthfeel is a feature here, and it is a thoroughly delicious wine, perfect for food.

A delicious rosé. A blend of cinsault and mourvèdre, that presents with a deep onion skin colour in the glass and shows tones of redcurrant, blood orange, ruby-red grapefruit and wafts of freeze-dried raspberry. Hints of meadow flowers, soft spice and crushed stone. It’s really interesting, textural drinking, with a savoury lean and a really slinky feel as it fades away. Very cool.
