“The wheel is come full circle”

– WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

New World wine in an old-world way.

In 2012 Michael and Susan Papps decided to start making wines that were a nod to the old-world style. Lighter brighter, higher acid and less alcohol, that have more minerality and texture.

Achieved this by picking earlier, using whole clusters, extended skin contact and no filtration.
For Yelland & Papps this range is the core range that reflects the evolution of their winemaking, hence the elimination of the Second Take name to reflect where they are today in their journey.

2021 Vermentino
These vines are grown in the Light Pass sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Michael and Susan have been taking this vineyard since 2011 and experimenting with skin contact in first in 2014 wanting to showcase the depth and structure skin contact can reach. This wine ranges yearly from 200-300+ days on skins. Vermentino is crushed, with scraping oxidised fruit off the top to allow a clean and pure expression of skin contact. After 200+ days with their children helping empty tanks and pressing gently to extract wine, this wine is pre-bottling blended for the final blend.
