Those Yelland & Papps kids are pretty good at this roussanne thing, this one sourced from the Materne vineyard over Greenock way in the west. It’s mid-straw in the glass and all citrus and nashi pear fruit tones with something exotic in there this year. Maybe some feijoa and star fruit. Spicy, too, with honeysuckle, poached pears, clotted cream and stone. Some nice grapefruit pith texture and fine acidity as the wine sashays off, too. Lovely.
