Happy New Year!

As always December seems to be a blur of taking one day at a time to get through the endless tick list of things to get done.

This year we decided to take the kids away before Christmas and catch up with friends and family, to accomplish this blissful and hectic social escape we first had to complete final bottlings for 2023, three Yelland & Papps wines and two for a valued customer. This entailed three different bottling times and some late nights and unfortunately some average dinners! Picking kids up from school, ensuring wine orders are out before we leave, and ensuring watering and vineyards are all good. Luckily my parents decided to move over to the Barossa Valley two years ago, so my valued hydrangeas were kept in great watering. My parents were also rewarded with an abundance of apricots and a myriad of vegetables to share with their friends for the trouble.

Our two weeks away were spent in the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Hawkesbury River, and Coogee Beach, with lots of wines, lots of laughs, stories, cuddles with friends’ babies and endless swims and family tennis.
We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful people in our lives who are a result of what we do, and we most importantly spent a beautiful evening with Neil who owns Franc About Wine our distributor for ten years in Sydney, something very special to celebrate and although too many conversations we forget to take a photo! But we did enjoy one of the best margaritas of all time (it may have been the moment?)
This was a common thread throughout our time away, that sometimes you forget to capture that moment, thankfully some of our friends remembered this and we have some great memories.
On arrival home thankfully the weather had been kind and my Hydrangeas and the vineyard were looking very happy and healthy.

As I start back in the office today to start the year off, sort the array of emails and start the planning for new release wines and vintage, Michael and I are excited, hopeful and although this is a difficult and stressful time in the wine industry and business in general, we are grateful that we have got were we have and we love what we do every day.

We appreciate immensely the customers that have been on our journey and supported us throughout the years, the emails over the last few weeks have meant a lot and it means so much to see your photos of the wines you are enjoying and the well wishes.

Thank you again and we look forward to sharing more Yelland & Papps with everyone in 2024.

Kind Regards
Susan Papps
