Wines - 2014 YP Vermentino
Pale straw in hue with green flecks the 2014 Yelland & Papps Vermentino displays the bright aromas of citrus fruits with light tropical notes. Meyer lemon, grapefruit and lime notes combine with crunchy green apple, paw paw and nashi pear hints. Underlying the vibrant fruit characters you will find aromas of fresh ginger, nougat, almond blossom and soft spice. It’s smelling fresh as a daisy.
Flavours of pithy lemon, grapefruit and lime take centre stage with hints of granny smith apple and nashi pear. There are flashes of creme fraiche, white flowers, almond paste, spice and a touch of Kalamata olive. It finishes clean with a citrus pith sheen and an energetic line of stony acidity that keeps you reaching out to refill your glass. It’s a wine that is all about vivid lines, crunchy citrus fruits and crisp drive across the palate. There is texture there for sure, but it sizzles across the palate with focus and precision with the lovely fruit characters kept in check with a mouth-watering line of acidity, great drinking on its own and a versatile addition to the table matching all manner of foods.
The parcels of fruit were handpicked in mid February coming in at 10.8, 11.5 and 12.7 baume.
The grapes were whole berry basket pressed, cold fermented for 15 days to maintain maximum fruit freshness and rested on yeast lees for 3 months. This wine has had minimal intervention to retain all purity, then gently filtered and blended prior to bottling.

Has considerable presence on the bouquet and palate alike; citrus blossom and citrus zest drive the expressive, aromatic bouquet, happily picked up by the long and satisfying palate, grainy acidity at ease with the fruit flavours. To 2016
