Wines - 2012 Divine Shiraz
Hailing from the very impressive 2012 Barossa vintage our latest release of the Divine Shiraz will be sure to put a smile on the face of lovers of the regions most famous variety. Dark red/purple in the glass, the aromas are rich, opulent and inviting — deep, ripe blackberry, black plum, macerated cherries, cassis and kirsch making their presence felt. The nose is underscored by hints of fruit-cake spice, black-strap licorice, dried citrus rind, Barossa earth, dark chocolate, roasting meats, espresso grounds and spicy oak with characters of eucalyptus and violets noticeable further in the background.
There is impressive weight and presence on the palate in the 2012 with fruit characters of macerated black cherry, cassis, blackberry and dark plums flowing across the palate. Full-bodied and voluptuous, the 2012 also shows supporting hints of baking and fruit cake spices, licorice, “Old Jamaican’ chocolate, dried flowers, quince paste, freshly roasted coffee, roast beef, spicy oak and plenty of deep, rich earthiness to keep fans of robust Barossa Shiraz more than happy. The tannins are fine, ripe and sandy, the acidity bright and energetic and the finish lingers nicely leaving the palate coated with flavours of spiced, plum and berry fruits and gentle oak. While approachable now it is a wine that will cellar beautifully with careful cellaring and would be perfectly suited for drinking matched with hearty meat dishes.

The grapes were grown on the outskirts of Greenock, home of some of the most extraordinary grapes. Vines were planted in the early 1960’s in sandy loam topsoil over light clay.
Cropped at 1.5 tonnes per acre, the vineyard was harvested on March 1st when optimum flavours and balance were achieved in the grape.
