Wines - 2012 BB Cabernet Sauvignon
From the super 2012 vintage, this years Yelland & Papps Cabernet Sauvignon shows a saturated mid red/purple colour in the glass and precise, varietally true aromas of ripe blackberry, blackcurrant and cassis. Hints of cinnamon, clove, forest floor, kirsch, black liquorice and dark chocolate appear on the nose along with lighter notes of violets and purple flowers.
Medium-bodied on the palate with rich, ripe fruit flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry along with a dark plummy edge. Hints of deep spice in the way of clove and cinnamon combine with notes of dark “Old Jamaican” chocolate, creme de cassis, kirsch, licorice, earth, forest floor, subtle oak and delightful purple floral wafts to provide beautiful drinking. The acidity is bright, poised and drives proceedings along nicely; the tannins are ripe, fine and chalky and the finish lingers persistently showing grace, balance and all that is good about Cabernet Sauvignon in the Barossa.

Yelland & Papps Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
I tasted five wines in a blind tasting recently. All were Cabernets from various South Australian regions and all were of differing vintages. This drop topped the lot and was a pleasant surprise.
Great colour, this is deep and dense with some chocolatey oak. I really liked the berry fruits and the depth delivered. The length punches through nicely. Soft fruit flavours leave the mouth slowly and gracefully.
A most enjoyable wine with a funky label which makes you want to read every little word.
Yelland and Papps certainly have their finger on the pulse. This wine was a bit of fun in their words... I like their definition of fun!
A ripping bargain for twenty bucks!
